Agent readiness

MCP server development: get your business ready for AI agents

Webika's MCP server development gets B2B suppliers ready for AI agents, so buyers' assistants can look up your products, specs, stock, and lead times, and send you quote requests. An agent readiness build costs £6,000–15,000 + VAT / $8,000–20,000, fixed before we start.

Our free checker shows whether AI assistants mention you. The next question is whether an agent can act on what it finds: answer a spec question from your own data, or pass a quote request to your team. We build that connection on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard that assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT use to reach outside systems, and keep it read-only until you decide otherwise.

What an agent readiness build includes

  1. Agent access review

We check what assistants and agents can read about you today: your site, your product and spec data, its structured data, and the AI crawler rules in your robots.txt.

  2. An MCP server for your business

A server on infrastructure you control that gives assistants a small set of tools, such as product search, spec lookup, stock and lead times, and quote requests. Prices appear only where you choose.

  3. Product data agents can read

Structured product and spec data on your site and behind the server, so answers come from your data rather than an assistant's guess.

  4. Quote requests into your process

Requests from agents arrive in your inbox or CRM for a person to handle. Nothing is ordered, priced, or promised without your team.

  5. Handover

Documentation, a log of what agents asked for, and a written note of the risks that remain.

How we keep it safe

  • Read-only by default: agents can look things up, and anything that orders, changes records, or commits to a price waits for a person.
  • Each tool reaches only the data its job needs, through its own credentials, never an admin login.
  • Every request an agent makes is logged, so you can see what was asked and what was answered.
  • We've built production APIs and invoice-reading systems on .NET and Azure, the kind of systems agents connect to.
  • Being ready for agents doesn't make assistants recommend you. It means that when they reach you, they find accurate data.

Questions

How much does MCP server development cost?
An agent readiness build, with an MCP server, costs £6,000–15,000 + VAT / $8,000–20,000, fixed before we start, depending on your data and how many tools the server offers. Larger work, such as writing orders back to your ERP or checkout inside assistants, is development, at £600–950/day + VAT / $800–1,200/day, or a fixed quote.
What is an MCP server?
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard for connecting AI applications to outside systems. An MCP server is the part on your side: it lists the tools an assistant may use, such as product search or a quote request, and answers them from your data.
Will this make AI assistants recommend us?
No. Being ready for agents means assistants that reach you get accurate answers from your own data. Whether they recommend you is AI visibility work, and nobody can guarantee it.
Can AI agents buy from us directly?
Sometimes. Checkout inside assistants runs on open protocols: the Agentic Commerce Protocol, from OpenAI and Stripe, used by ChatGPT, and the Universal Commerce Protocol, used for checkout in Google's AI Mode and Gemini. Both are new, open to some merchants only, and not available in every country, so we check what applies to you before we quote. Checkout work is development, at £600–950/day + VAT / $800–1,200/day, or a fixed quote.
Is this the same as building an AI agent?
No. An AI agent works for your team. Agent readiness lets other people's agents, such as your buyers' assistants, work with you.
Does it work with our ERP?
The server reads from your ERP or product database through access you already have, such as an API, a database view, or a regular export. We confirm what your system allows before we quote, and we only describe connections we've built.
Are you affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or Stripe?
No. MCP, the Agentic Commerce Protocol, and the Universal Commerce Protocol are open standards, and we build on them for clients.
